Vince Wilfork has been released by the New England Patriots, becoming an unrestricted free agent.

Wilfork, who was drafted by the Patriots in 2004 and has been on their squad for 11 seasons, vowed that he would "always be a fixture in New England" and that he would be "a Patriot forever."

Widely regarded as one of the league's top defensive tackles, Wilfork is sure to have plenty of suitors.

Reports have even suggested he could ultimately return to the Patriots if a deal on lower terms can be made.

Wilfork was with the Patriots when they won the Super Bowl following the 2004 and 2014 seasons.
