Patriots overcome Bills to stay perfect

TomBrady - Cropped

Tom Brady did enough to help the New England Patriots stay unbeaten with a 20-13 win over the Buffalo Bills.

The Patriots improved to 10-0 this season as Brady completed 20 of 39 passes for 277 yards and a touchdown at Gillette Stadium.

The Bills did a good job of keeping the Patriots offense out of sync, but Brady was sharp when he needed to be.

The quarterback was hit early and often, but his team never deterred from their offensive game plan.

Tyrod Taylor finished with 233 yards as the Bills' record slipped to 5-5.

James White scored two touchdowns, including just before half-time as the Patriots took a 10-3 lead.

However, the Bills tied it back up when LeSean McCoy capped a 27-yard run by diving at the pylon in the third quarter.

McCoy's touchdown came on the series after New England were the victim of an inadvertent whistle that took away a likely long touchdown by Danny Amendola, who caught a pass up the sideline as Brady was scrambling out of the pocket.

Stephen Gostkowski missed a 54-yard field goal, his first miss in 31 attempts, as the Patriots came away without points.

Following a 41-yard pass to Amendola, who finished with nine catches for 117 yards, the Patriots went back up by a touchdown on a six-yard White run.

The Patriots made it a 10-point game on another Gostkowski field goal following a Bills fumble and it would be enough as they held on despite a Dan Carpenter field goal in the fourth.
