Report: Dodgers willing to eat half of Andre Ethier's contract in trade

Andre Ethier

Andre Ethier is due $56 million over the next three years. It's a hefty contract for a player who wants to be traded and who likely won't be an everyday player in a stacked Dodgers outfield. But the Dodgers will do all they can to make a trade work.

The Dodgers are willing to pay half of Ethier's contract to move him, according to CBS Sports. The expectation that rookie Joc Pederson will start in center field, flanked by Carl Crawford and Yasiel Puig, leaves Ethier as the odd man out.

Ethier, entering the third year of a five-year, $85 million contract, batted .249/.322/.370 last year with just four home runs and 42 RBIs in 130 games. Ethier has a career .285/.359/.462 slash line over nine seasons and was an All-Star in 2010 and 2011.

Possible trade partners for the Dodgers include the Braves, Orioles and Blue Jays.
