The fight between players of the Kansas City Royals and the Chicago White Sox on Thursday has seen six of them landed with suspensions by Major League Baseball.

In news announced on Saturday, Royals quartet Yordano Ventura (seven games), Edinson Volquez (five), Lorenzo Cain (two), Kelvin Herrera (two) were hit with bans.

Two Chicago players were hit with sanctions, Chris Sale getting five games and Jeff Samardzija five.

Both benches cleared out at the end of the seventh inning after Royals pitcher Ventura crudely yelled at White Sox outfielder Eaton following a ground out.

White Sox pitcher Samardzija eventually went after Royals center fielder Cain and tried to throw a punch, but was stopped by third base coach Mike Jirschele, while pitcher Volquez attempted to swing at him.

Both Ventura and Eaton were remorseful after the incident. This is the second ejection for Ventura this season - he was also fined for an April 19 incident in a game between the Royals and the Athletics.

Herrera was suspended for five games for throwing behind a batter in that game. He is appealing that suspension.

Unless the players appeal, all suspensions will begin on Sunday. In the meantime, the teams will continue their series in Chicago.
