Michigan chief marketing officer Hunter Lochmann has resigned after saying the school’s relationships with players are “fleeting."

Lochmann turned in his resignation Tuesday to "pursue other oppurtunities," according to The Detroit News.

Lochmann made questionable comments during last Thursday’s IMG Intercollegiate Athletics forum.

"The athletes are there for four years," Lochmann said when asked about providing athletes with stipends, according to SportsBusiness Journal. "At Michigan, it's the Block M that has the infinity and power, not Denard Robinson. Those are fleeting, four-year relationships, but it's the block M that's been there for over 150 years."

Former Michigan offensive lineman Steve Hutchinson was among the collection of fans upset on social media.

"That article pretty much sums up their attitude toward alumni relations at UM," Hutchinson wrote.
