Michael Saunders only expected to be out until mid-April

Michael Saunders and the Blue Jays received some good news Friday.

The outfielder will only need five to six weeks of recovery time following surgery for a torn meniscus, not through the All-Star Break in July as was previously reported.

The timetable for Saunders' recovery was moved up because the cartilage could only be removed, not replaced.

This might cause further knee troubles down the road, but for now it allows Saunders to return to the field sooner.
