Everybody loves a good comeback story. We give you Michael Phelp.

After serving a six-month ban from professional swimming, Phelps on Saturday swooped in from last place and won the 100 freestyle at the Arena Pro Swim Series in Mesa, Ariz.

"As soon as I was underwater I just started kicking and one of the kicks I just felt something different that I hadn't felt before," Phelps told Fox Sports. "I don't know if that was the switching gear in knowing how to race again or what. I haven't felt that switch in anything."

During the last lap, Phelps shot off the wall and inched ahead of Ryan Lochte to win the race in 49.72 seconds. Lochte finished with a time of 49.77, and fellow Olympian Conor Dwyer finished in 50.02 for third place.

Phelps was suspended from professional swimming in October after an alcohol-related arrest in Maryland, his second. Even though he is allowed to compete again, part of his punishment dictates that he is forbidden from racing in the 2015 FINA World Championship in Russia.

The owner of 18 Olympic gold medals, Phelps won the 100 butterfly, finished third in the 200 individual medley and didn't make the final in the 400 free during the four-day competition in Arizona.
