The search for the son of an ESPN writer is still ongoing, but weather is keeping investigators from continuing the water portion of the search.

Max Maisel, a 21-year-old junior at the Rochester Institute of Technology and the son of veteran ESPN college football writer Ivan Maisel, has been missing since Feb. 22. Police have been searching off the coast of Lake Ontario, near a pier where Maisel was known to frequent. But that search was suspended due to inclement weather in the area Thursday.

Earlier this week, Ivan Maisel expressed concern about the weather.

On March 1, Ivan Maisel shared a note on Twitter saying, "While they have urged us not to leap to any conclusions about Max's fate, logic indicates that it will not end well."

Rochester Police say they are turning their attention toward other leads in the interim.

Maisel was last seen by classmates leaving his campus apartment. Police found his car the next day, parked near the Charlotte Pier in Rochester. He’s 6-5 and weighs about 135 pounds. He wears dark-rimmed glasses.
