After nine seasons in the NFL, Maurice Jones-Drew has called it quits.

The running back most notably played for the Jacksonville Jaguars where he spent eight seasons before he signed with the Raiders last season.

Jones-Drew made his announcement on Twitter.

"All good things come to an end!!!" he wrote.

Jones-Drew entered the league as a second-round draft pick in 2006.

As a member of the Jaguars he was named to the Pro Bowl three times (2009, 2010, 2011) and led the NFL in rushing yards in 2011.

He also made first-team All-Pro in 2010 and 2011.

After leading the league in rushing in 2011, his career took a downturn.

A foot injury ended his 2012 season after six games as he was placed on injured reserve.

He was healthy in 2013, but struggled and was not signed back by Jacksonville at season's end.

During the 2014 off-season he signed a a three-year deal with the Raiders, but was hardly used.

He carried the ball just 43 times for 96 yards in 12 games last year.
