Matthew wins Chicago title

Nick Matthew - Cropped

Nick Matthew became the oldest winner of a PSA World Series event, after taking out the Windy City Open in Chicago on Wednesday.

The English fourth seed downed top seed Mohamed Elshorbagy 11-7 11-2 11-7 in 62 minutes in the decider, to cap a dominant week for the 34-year-old.

Matthew dropped only one game throughout the tournament - to defending champion Gregory Gaultier in the semi-finals.

Elshorbagy encounter two five-game contests in the opening rounds, before beating two fellow Egyptians - and one fellow Elshorbagy - to reach a second straight decider against Matthew.

He negotiated a semi-final with younger brother Marwan Elshorbagy in straight games, but he was unable to replicate the performance that saw him defeat Matthew in the Tournament of Champions final in New York in January.
