Marshawn Lynch was considering retirement this offseason, but the star running back has decided to return to football.

The Seahawks announced Friday that Lynch has signed a two-year deal through the 2017 season. They also released a video on their website announcing the news.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the team, but Mike Garafolo of FoxSports wrote on his Twitter account that the deal was for $24 million.

ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported Friday afternoon that Lynch had agreed to a new deal and was en route to Seattle. A few hours before Schefter's news, a Seahawks blog was tipped off about Lynch being on a plane headed towards Seattle:

The Seahawks made it clear they wanted to get Lynch under contract if he decided to return, and reports claim they were willing to spend big money to keep him in the Pacific Northwest.

Lynch ran for 1,306 yards and 17 touchdowns last season for the back-to-back NFC champions. He also finished with 4.66 yards per carry, the second-best average of his career.
