Lee headlines trio to advance in Copenhagen

Malaysian Lee - the number one seed - made light work of Dieter Domke, winning 21-12 21-9 in Copenhagen.

Lee, who won silver at the 2012 London Olympics, chalked up victory in just over half-an-hour against his German opponent in the Danish capital.

Second-ranked Chinese player Chen also breezed through to the next round after accounting for German Marc Zwiebler 21-11 21-10.

Home favourite and third seed Jorgensen also progressed with a straight-games win on Wednesday.

Jorgensen - triumphant at the Indonesian Open in June - needed less than 30 minutes as he upstaged Finnish opponent Eetu Heino 21-9 21-17.

"It was a great game. I'm happy with the outcome and the way I played," said Jorgensen.

Other seeds to advance were Tommy Sugiarto (fifth), Wang Zhengming (sixth), Son Wan Ho (seventh), Hu Yun (ninth), Hans-Kristian Vittinghus (10th) and Viktor Axelsen (14th).

Indonesian Sugiarto trumped Russia's Vladimir Malkov 21-16 21-13, Wang of China prevailed 21-15 19-21 21-7 against Czech Petr Koukal and South Korean Shon downed American Sattawat Pongnairat 21-6 21-12.

Hu of Hong Kong needed an hour and four minutes to beat Finland's Ville Lang 17-21 21-15 21-17, Vittinghus upstaged Yuhan Tan 21-18, while Dane Axelsen was a 21-9 21-10 winner over Dutchman Erik Meijs.

There was no such luck for seeds Tian Houwei (11th) and Sho Sasaki (15th)

China's Tian was no match for Dutchman Eric Pang, losing 21-15 21-16, while Sasaki lost 21-16 21-19 to Taiwanese player Chou Tien Chen 21-16 21-19.

Other winners on Wednesday were Scott Evans, Nan Wei, Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk, Srikanth Kidambi and Nguyen Tien Minh.

On the women's side of the draw, Canadian Michelle Li upstaged 10th seed Porntip Buranaprasertsuk.

Li overcame Thailand's Buranaprasertsuk 20-22 21-18 21-11 in one hour and six minutes.

"She was hitting a lot of winners in the first game," Li explained.

"I wanted to prevent her attacking so much, and knew I had a better chance if I kept the shuttle flat."

China's number two Wang Shixian disposed of Pui Yin Yip 21-15 21-18, Wang Yihan of China defeated Anna Thea Madsen 21-13 21-13, while six-seeded South Korean Bae Youn Joo was a 21-18 21-14 victor over Karin Schnaase.

Spanish ninth seed Carolina Marin survived to beat Tee Jing Yi 21-18 16-21 21-10.

Indian PV Sindhu - the 11th seed - was a 21-12 21-17 winner against Olga Golovanova.

Tai Tzu-Ying eased past Bellaetrix Manuputty 21-12 21-14, while Thi Trang Vu was the beneficiary of a walkover against 15th seed Eriko Hirose.
