Police are attempting to recover a Stanley Cup ring belonging to former Maple Leafs defenseman Phil Samis that was stolen last month, according to City News of Toronto.

According to police, the 1947-48 Stanley Cup ring was among the jewelry and property stolen from a home in northern Toronto on March 5.

Samis, 87, played five games for the Leafs in the 1947-48 playoffs after not appearing in the regular season. A long-time player in minor pro hockey, Samis played two Leafs games in 1949-50 — his only regular season record.
