Should the Islanders continue their upstart season in the second half, they'll need to do so without second-leading scorer Kyle Okposo for a good portion of it.

Okposo will miss six to eight weeks with an upper-body injury, Islanders coach Jack Capuano said Monday. Okposo was injured during the team's first practice following the All-Star break.

Okposo, 26, has 14 goals and 44 points in 46 games this season, second only to team captain John Tavares' 45 points. He had a four-goal game Jan. 16 against the Penguins.

The Islanders start the second half of the season in first place in the Metropolitan Division with a 31-14-1 record.
