Justin Verlander isn't a fan of Uber's rising rates

Uber, the urban car-share taxi company, has developed a knack for rubbing its customers the wrong way with sudden and unreasonable rate surges.

Add Justin Verlander to those who are not pleased.

The Tigers pitcher, who signed a record contract extension in 2013 worth about $200 million, isn't happy for having to pay more than two-and-a-half times his normal rate for cab fare and let his Instagram followers know about it Wednesday.

Lyft is a direct competitor to Uber and apparently offers rates more practical for Verlander's "budget."

Still, you might wonder why a star pitcher and his supermodel girlfriend are traveling via car share in the first place.
