Danish second seed Jorgensen was sent packing by Chinese Taipei's Chou Tien-chen, who was a 25-23 9-21 21-15 winner at the Super Series event in the French capital.

Jorgensen - already a winner on the Super Series circuit after taking out the Indonesia Open in June - will now turn his attention to next month's China Open.

Tago - the men's world number four - was stunned by Indian Commonwealth Games gold medallist Kashyap Parupalli 21-11 21-18.

It was better news for seeds Tommy Sugiarto, Wang Zhengming, Hans-Kristian Vittinghus, Yun Hu and Viktor Axelsen, who all advanced.

Indonesia's fourth seed Sugiarto needed an hour and three minutes to account for Malaysian Chong Wei Feng 18-21 21-13 21-13.

Fifth-seeded Chinese Zhengming downed Japan's Sho Sasaki 21-19 21-14.

Vittinghus - the sixth-seeded Dane - beat Dutchman Eric Pang 21-18 21-11.

Seventh seed Yun of Hong Kong prevailed 21-18 20-22 21-15 against Republic of Ireland's Scott Evans.

Denmark's eight seed Axelsen progressed to the second round after Wong Wing Ki of Hong Kong retired with the score 21-11 18-11.

In other results, Tian Houwei defeated Hsu Jen-hao 21-10 21-19, Srikanth Kidambi saw off Dmytro Zavadsky 21-10 21-14 and Takuma Ueda beat Boonsak Ponsana 21-15 21-13.

Brice Leverdez lost to Ka Long Angus Ng 21-19 21-14 and Kento Momota won 21-11 15-21 22-20 against Prannoy Kumar.

Rajiv Ouseph disposed of Sourabh Varma 21-10 21-11, Marc Zwiebler recorded a 21-16 21-17 victory over Nguyen Tien Minh, Chen Yuekun trumped Zue Song 26-24 12-21 21-8 and Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk beat Nan Wei 21-15 21-11.

In the women's draw, top seed Li Xuerui advanced to the second round courtesy of a 21-11 21-11 win against Busanan Ongbumrungpan.

Fellow seeds Wang Shixian (two), Wang Yihan (three), Ratchanok Intanon (four) and Saina Nehwal (five) also won through.

Wang powered past Natalia Perminova 21-8 21-12, while Line Kjaersfeldt lost 21-16 21-17 to Wang.

Intanon overcame home favourite Delphine Lansac 21-13 21-9 and Nehwal defeated Frenchwoman Sashina Vignes Waran 21-16 21-9.

Akane Yamaguchi was the beneficiary of a walkover after seventh seed Tai Tzu-ying failed to take to the court.

Eighth seed Pusarla Venkata Sindhu also bowed out at the hands of Porntip Buranaprasertsuk 12-21 21-18 21-16.

Elsewhere, Minatsu Mitani defeated Michelle Li 11-21 21-17 22-20, Liu Xin was a 21-10 21-19 winner over Ya Ching Hsu and Kirsty Gilmour topped Yu Po Pai 13-21 21-12 21-16.

Sayaka Takahashi triumphed 21-18 21-8 against Linda Zetchiri, Beiwen Zhang downed Bellaetrix Manuputty 21-8 21-11 and Adrianti Firdasari was beaten by Sabrina Jaquet 21-18 18-21 22-20.

Pui Yin Yip edged Lindaweni Fanetri 21-18 22-20, Chloe Magee accounted for Vu Thi Trang 21-13 21-13, while Karin Schnaase posted a 21-12 21-16 victory over Eriko Hirose.
