The Danish world number three started his Group B schedule with a 21-15 21-9 success over the Indonesian, and afterwards expressed his satisfaction while also waxing lyrical about the quality of the venue.
"I'm very happy with that result, but I had to settle with the conditions in the beginning," he said. "But I knew if I kept at it, I could turn it around.
"I'm happy to be here, we had high expectations of Dubai, and everything has been great here so far, the court, the hotel, the food, shopping, everything.
"I had a good draw. That's pretty clear. Son Wan-ho and Chen Long were the best players over the last few months. I'm happy to avoid Son.
"My first goal is to get through from the group. Everything so far has been outstanding.
"I’m physically fine. I haven't had two straight injury-free weeks since the World Championships. It's been a tough time.
"I tried my best to stay positive. I played some tournaments where I was okay to get the points from the first round and qualify for this tournament.
"The conditions are great. Hopefully in a few years' time, this will grow really big. It can't get better than this."
With defending men's champion Lee Chong Wei absent pending a suspension for an alleged doping violation, world number two Chen is among the main contenders to lift a second title in three years.
The Chinese began with a 21-11 21-14 win over Kenichi Tago in Group A, while Jorgensen's compatriot Hans-Kristian Vittinghus provided something of a shock in overcoming Son 21-13 21-16.
The other match in Group B ended in a 15-21 21-16 21-10 triumph for Kidambi Srikanth over Kento Momota.
In the women's event, world number two Wang Shixian began with defeat in Group A, as India's Saina Nehwal prevailed 21-17 21-18.
Sung Ji-hyun's 21-15 21-11 victory over South Korean compatriot Bae Yeon-ju saw her make a positive start, while in Group B Tai Tzu-ying and Akane Yamaguchi both kicked off with wins.
Tai got the better of Ratchanok Intanon 21-13 18-21 21-10, while Akane Yamaguchi defeated Wang Yihan 21-16 17-21 21-15.
