Johnny Manziel has a new position coach.

Kevin O’Connell will take over as the Browns new quarterbacks coach, according to several published reports. Kurt Roper will also be named senior offensive assistant.

O’Connell is a former third-round draft pick by the Patriots in 2008. He was beaten out for the backup role in New England by Cleveland's incumbent starter Brian Hoyer.

O’Connell worked with Manziel prior to last year’s NFL Draft.

Roper was the University of Florida’s offensive coordinator last season.
