The woman who accused former Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston of raping her has gone public with her story in a new documentary about campus sexual assault.

Erica Kinsman agreed to go on camera for the new documentary "The Hunting Ground," which premiered Friday at the Sundance Film Festival and will be aired on CNN and released in theaters at a later date.

The Los Angeles Times described Kinsman's recounting of the December 2012 night she says Winston raped her as "chilling."

In the film, she said she had drinks at a Tallahassee nightspot and ended up in a cab with a man and went to his apartment. She said the man initiated intercourse against her will while she pleaded for him to stop. After the man's roommate entered the bedroom and told him to stop, she said, the man took her into the bathroom, locked the door, and continued to rape her.

Kinsman said the man dropped her off at an intersection and she reported the incident, went to the hospital and had a rape kit performed. It wasn't until a month later, when she arrived in a new class on the first day of the second semester, that she saw Winston among her classmates and recognized him as the man she said had attacked her.

Winston has maintained that the two had consensual sex.

Nearly a year passed before the Tallahassee police took up the case in earnest, and they ultimately determined they did not have sufficient evidence to charge Winston.
