While Justin Blackmon is unsure about his future in the NFL, Jaguars owner Shad Khan assured that there will be a place for him in Jacksonville if the wide receiver chooses to come back.

During an interview with the  Florida Times-Union  on Friday, Khan was asked if he would welcome Blackmon back to the team.

"Absolutely," Khan replied. "As a matter of fact, I'm very optimistic. I think he's paid his dues. I think he's got his life together. I think he can be a role model for people who have gone through hard times. We're waiting for him."

Blackmon was drafted by the Jaguars as the fifth overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. After playing a full rookie season in Jacksonville, he was suspended twice during the 2013 season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. In total, Blackmon was arrested three times for drug- or alcohol-related offenses.

After being indefinitely suspended, he checked himself into a rehabilitation facility in September.

Blackmon is now free to apply to the league for reinstatement. Once he applies, the league has 60 days to make a decision.
