Italian fisherman Dino Ferrari hooked what might be the largest catfish ever brougnt in on a rod and reel.

This 280-pound river monster isn't the biggest catfish ever caught; someone reeled in a 342-pound lau-lau (or piraiba) type of catfish in 2009 in Brazil's Amazon region, according to the International Game Fish Association.

Ferrari hooked the 8-foot-plus fish on Italy's Po River last week. He spent 40 minutes reeling it in, according to CNN.

This catch may have been the largest done with a spinning reel, said Davide Valla, who is with Ferrari's sponsor company Sportex. He called it a record for such fishing tackle.

After enjoying his catch and taking photos, Ferrari released the catfish back into the river.
