Indian gymnast, coach in harassment scandal

AsianGames

Coach Manoj Rana and Chandan Pathak were scheduled to depart for the Games in Incheon, South Korea on Tuesday, however they might be recalled to India after the claims made by an athlete not competing at the Asiad.

The unnamed athlete filed a first information report (FIR) on Tuesday, claiming the offences took place at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex on September 2.

"They kept making fun of me … in abusive language which harmed my dignity and self-respect. There are words which were highly depressing and I cannot elaborate," the alleged victim said according to the FIR, as reported by The Times of India.

Delhi Police have registered the FIR against Rana and Pathak for outraging a woman's modesty, and criminal intimidation.

In a separate incident, South Korean police revealed they are investigating an alleged sexual assault from an Iran delegate towards a volunteer at a football stadium.

The alleged suspect is said to be a 38-year-old equipment manager for the Iranian football team.
