When the Texans release you, they tell you how they really feel. Just ask Owen Daniels.

Houston in March decided to part ways with the tight end after eight years, and he received a release sheet with the reason why.

"'You weren't good enough,'" Daniels told the Houston Chronicle. "That was the reason for the release."

The sheet, he said, left him speechless.

"I was in the building rehabbing and got called up (to general manager Rick Smith's office). For a split second, I thought, 'Are they releasing me right now?' But then I thought, 'Maybe he just wants to talk to me about restructuring.'"

Daniels certainly has been serviceable for the Ravens, who signed the tight end to a one-year deal in April. He's the team's second-leading receiver with 45 catches heading into a Week 16 matchup against his former team.

Daniels caught 385 passes during his Texans career but was limited to just 24 catches in five games during the 2013 season. He says he holds no ill-will towards the franchise or the city.

"I hope I left the city on good terms. It wasn't my choice to leave," he said. "I hope to get some love from the fans. I was treated well by the fans, and I will acknowledge them."
