The 27-year-old has become arguably the story of the NFL pre-season after standout performances in the 49ers’ opening two trials against the Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys.

He has done his best to distance himself from ‘Hayne mania’ both in America and Australia but the boy from Minto admits there is no escaping the pressure and hype of his new world.

"It is pretty crazy. It's pretty much like State of Origin every week. I think to put it in a nutshell, that's basically what it is," Hayne told reporters, referring to rugby league's showcase event, in Denver ahead of Sunday’s (AEST) trial against the Broncos.

"Everywhere we go we're getting police escorted, every session is intense, every video session is intense.

"It's one of those things where everything is critiqued. It does remind me of State of Origin, but just every week."

Hayne has passed every test thrown his way with flying colours so far but things go up a level against the Peyton Manning-led Broncos this weekend.

The third pre-season clash is considered the most important by NFL clubs and Hayne, who has been playing as a punt returner and running back, is likely to come up against first-string opposition for the first time.

Should Hayne impress he will almost certainly make the 53-man roster to be named on September 5 (AEST).

The 49ers play their final trial against the San Diego Chargers next Friday (AEST).
