Next time someone asks a Georgia student-athlete to sign an autograph for money, he should be prepared to face tough consequences.

The Georgia Senate made the final passage of the "Gurley Bill", named after Georgia running back Todd Gurley, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Wednesday.

The bill states that if someone or a company knowingly enters into a contract with a student-athlete and conducts a transaction that could jeopardize that athlete’s scholarship, eligibility or amateur standing, they could receive a $25,000 fine and jail time.

Gurley was suspended for four games last season after he was caught signing memorabilia and accepting money from dealers.
