Floyd Mayweather defeated Manny Pacquiao this weekend in Las Vegas to remain unbeaten, and after the bout said he'll fight in September of next year. His opponent hasn't been named yet, but welterweight Amir Khan says Mayweather's camp reached out to him about contending.

Khan spoke with BBC radio and says both camps — Mayweather and Pacquiao — have reached out to him about being their next opponent.

"I'm in a position where I could face either but I want Mayweather," he said.

There is a catch to competing against Mayweather, however. After the fight against Pacquiao he said he'll fight one more time in September of next year. Khan says that schedule doesn't work for him.

"I really believe I have Mayweather's number and I'm ready for whatever he wants," he said. "I can't do September because of Ramadan. It just depends on my schedule this year but if we can do this year or early next year I will definitely jump to it."

Khan, 28, is much younger than Mayweather, 38, and is the No. 1 ranked contender by the WBC. He is 30-3 (19 KOs) and believes he has what it takes to put the first loss in Mayweather's record.

"The mistake Manny made was to drop to Mayweather's pace," Khan said. "You need to stick to your own pace and that's what a younger man could do. Mayweather is a very classy fighter but he is not the biggest puncher. He won't hurt you. One boxer who can get to him, throw a lot of shots, and show a lot of heart, is Amir Khan."

Mayweather has one fight left on his deal with Showtime/CBS.
