Gators defensive back arrested on armed robbery charge

J.C. Jackson, Florida Gators

Florida Gators freshman cornerback J.C. Jackson was arrested Saturday night in Gainesville, Fla., on charges of armed robbery.

According to the arrest summary, Jackson and two unidentified males entered the apartment of an acquaintance. Although Jackson “quickly left,” one of the other men pulled a gun and forced the resident and two other occupants of the apartment to the floor. The two suspects then robbed the men of an Xbox, cash and marijuana.

Jackson subsequently turned himself into authorities, who are trying to determine the identity of the other suspects.

Jackson already has been involved in a couple of incidents since joining the Gators. On Christmas Eve, he was grazed by a bullet in a shooting in his hometown of Immokalee, Fla. On Dec. 13, Jackson and two other Florida football players were questioned by campus police officers after a traffic stop. While police found small bags of marijuana in the car, no charges were filed for possession.

Jackson played only two games in his freshman season before re-aggravating a shoulder injury. He had shoulder surgery and received a medical redshirt.
