Having failed to secure a single podium in the 2013-14 campaign, the Italian has made a blistering start to the new series, winning the first slalom event of the season in Austria by 0.06 seconds on Thursday.

Fischnaller saw off the challenges of Konstantin Shipilov, Andreas Prommegger and Benjamin Karl in the early rounds, before edging victory in the Big Final ahead of Zan Kosir.

His triumph means for the second event running he has beaten the Slovenian in the Big Final, having come out victorious in the parallel giant slalom in Carezza earlier this week.

Mirko Felicetti made a successful day for the Italians as he took third place thanks to victory in the Small Final.

Feilicetti beat Benjamin Karl to claim the final podium place by 0.68secs, having beaten Vic Wild and Sylvain Dufour in the previous rounds.

The competition stays in Austria for the next round of competition, with Bad Gastein hosting the third race in January.
