Eastern Washington quarterback Vernon Adams will visit Oregon this weekend, according to multiple reports.

According to 247Sports, Adams has been granted a transfer release. This means he could be eligible immediately as a graduate transfer.

Adams has been a star quarterback in the FCS. In 2013 he was runner-up for the Walter Payton Award, given to the top player in the FCS (he lost to current Patriots backup QB Jimmy Garoppolo). He might have been a finalist last season as well — his game averages for total offense (376.8) and passing yards (348.3) were the best in the nation — but he broke two bones in his foot in October. The injury caused him to miss four games. In 25 games over the last two seasons he's thrown for 90 touchdowns and run for another 10.

If Adams transfers to Oregon, he would immediately compete for the starting job left open by Heisman-winning quarterback Marcus Mariota's departure. There's no clear successor on the Ducks' current roster.
