Combs claims he was acting in self defence during an altercation with a UCLA conditioning coach Monday that ended in his arrest, according to a representative for the rapper.

"The various accounts of the event and charges that are being reported are wholly inaccurate," Nathalie Moar, a rep for Combs Enterprises, said in a statement to The Associated Press.

"What we can say now is that any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son."

Combs' son, Justin, is a defensive back for the Bruins.

According to a statement released by UCLA, Combs' charges include three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terroristic threats and one count of battery.

The school claims the deadly weapon used was a weight room kettlebell.

Combs is being accused of attacking Sal Alosi, a former strength coach with the Jets. A former Jets player anonymously spoke with ESPN and said he was "not surprised" Alosi was involved.

"He did that with the Jets," the player said about Alosi's in-your-face nature.

According to TMZ, Alosi was "riding Justin badly" and that's why Diddy was upset with the coach.

TMZ's report of the event says Diddy went to the campus to speak to Alosi, but the coach threatened to call security to escort him. Diddy then said he'd call the police and Alosi went after Diddy with his hands.

Diddy, 45, was released late Monday after posting $50,000 bail. ESPN reports the district attorney's office will likely take Diddy's case at some point next week.
