Former NFL safety Darren Sharper pleaded guilty Friday at a federal court in New Orleans to three counts of distributing the drugs Xanax, Valium and Ambien with the intent to rape women, according to the New Orleans Advocate.

The first count dates back to 2010-14, accusing Sharper of conspiracy to drug women "with the intent to commit a crime of violence, that is, rape."

The other two counts come from the same scenario in specific instances. One incident happened at a pre-Super Bowl party in Feb. 2013, and another involving a former Saints cheerleader and a different woman at his condo in Sept. 2013.

Sharper, who has been in prison since Feb. 2014 after being arrested on rape allegations, has already pleaded guilty to state charges in Nevada, Arizona and California. He is set to spent the next nine years in federal custody.

Sharper, 39, is expected to enter a guilty plea June 15 to three rape charges from two incidents in Sept. 2013 under a “global” plea deal constructed by his attorneys and prosecutors.

Sharper, a five-time Pro Bowler, played 14 years in the NFL with the Packers, Vikings and Saints.

Since his first arrest and allegations, Sharper has been fired from the NFL Network, discarded from the William and Mary Hall of Fame and will have his banner removed from the Saints’ Champions Square.
