America loves a sequel, and Jets owner Woody Johnson is not immune to the phenomenon.

Johnson is pushing new Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan to make a run at shutdown corner Darrelle Revis if the perennial Pro Bowler hits the market next week, the New York Daily News reports.

Revis, 29, was a first-round pick by the Jets in the 2007 draft and quickly established himself as one of the NFL's better defensive backs. He was dealt to the Buccaneers in 2013 after a torn ACL ended his 2012 season early, and Revis signed with the Patriots as a free agent last spring.

That two-year deal would pay Revis $20 million for 2015, including a $9 million bonus payable immediately next Tuesday. Those terms might not be palatable for New England, but the Patriots could still make Revis a multiyear extension offer.

If he hits free agency, though, it seems the Jets are poised to make a strong bid in an effort to bolster new coach Todd Bowles' defense.
