Former Cleveland coach Rob Chudzinski will remain on Indianapolis' staff in a different role, the Colts announced Tuesday.

Chudzinski, who was hired by the Colts last year after the Browns fired him following one season, agreed to a new contract naming him associate head coach. He was a special assistant in 2014.

"He's been a critical part of our operation, and we're looking forward to sharing even more success in the future," coach Chuck Pagano said in a statement.

Chudzinski was a rumored offensive coordinator candidate this offseason, and teams such as the 49ers and Rams requested interviews. The Colts denied those requests, but Chud was eligible to interview for OC jobs starting Tuesday.

Instead, he'll remain in Indy with his new deal.
