A Georgia high school baseball player is fighting for life after being hit in the head Wednesday by an errant throw.

Colton Shaw, a freshman at Valdosta High School, is on life support and listed in critical condition, according to the Valdosta Daily Times. Shaw’s age was not listed in the report.

He was flown to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. The incident reportedly occurred between innings during a junior varsity game.

“Our thoughts and our prayers (are) with Colton and his family and the entire Valdosta City Schools family because this has affected all of his. It’s truly devastating,” said Jennifer Steedley, a spokesperson with Valdosta schools.
