Avalanche's Cody McLeod, Gabriel Landeskog fined by NHL

Avalanche forwards Cody McLeod and Gabriel Landeskog were fined by the NHL for their actions in the final seconds of Colorado's 3-1 home loss to Minnesota on Saturday, the league's Department of Player Safety announced Tuesday. The fines were the maximum amounts allowable under the league's collective bargaining agreement.

McLeod was fined $3,091.40 for entering the game with 8.1 seconds remaining in regulation for the purpose of starting an altercation. He body-checked Wild center Mikael Granlund before engaging in a fight with forward Charlie Coyle. McLeod was assessed a minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, a major penalty for fighting and a misconduct penalty.

Landeskog, the team's captain, was fined $5,000 for throwing a punch at Wild forward Mikko Koivu while both players were on their respective benches. The incident occurred with 3.3 seconds left in regulation and earned Landeskog a misconduct penalty.
