Chuck Knoblauch blasts Yankees on Andy Pettitte jersey retirement

Chuck Knoblauch and Andy Pettitte

Former Yankees' second baseman Chuck Knoblauch apparently isn't too happy with the organization's decision to honor his former teammate Andy Pettitte by retiring his number and giving him a plaque in Monument Park this season.

SPECTOR: Yankees have retired too few numbers

Pettitte admitted to using the HGH, or human growth hormones, on two occasions in 2002, but claimed it was to recover from injury, not to enhance his performance.

After the lefty publicly apologized in 2008, the Yankees moved on from the incident.

But Knoblauch, who played for the Yankees from 1998 to 2001, hasn't forgotten. Still, he may not be the right poster boy for ethical behavior. The Twins had to cancel Knoblauch's team Hall of Fame ceremony following his arrest on accusations of assaulting his ex-wife last summer.

Pettitte pitched 15 seasons with the Yankees, going 219-127. He had a successful tenure in New York, winning five World Series (three with Knobauch) and being selected as a three-time All-Star.
