Chad Kelly's lawyer disputes AK-47 remark

The lawyer for Ole Miss football recruit Chad Kelly said video evidence will exonerate his client following an arrest early Sunday morning.

Kelly, the nephew of former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly, was arrested following an incident at a Buffalo bar. According to the police report, the 20-year-old punched a bouncer and later said he was "going to go to my car and get my AK-47 and spray this place.”

Kelly's lawyer, Thomas J. Eoannou, claims to have video that disputes the police report.

"It's obvious Chad was not the one who started this incident," Eoannou told The Associated Press. "There's no evidence of a threat of an AK in that video."

Kelly, an upstate New York native, was kicked off the Clemson football team in April for conduct detrimental to the program two days after Clemson's spring game. He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 5 and faces numerous charges, including third-degree assault, second-degree harassment, second-degree menacing, resisting arrest, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.
