Browns suspend Gordon

Wide receiver Gordon is said to have missed a walkthrough as the Browns prepare to face the AFC North rival Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

The news caps a disappointing year for Gordon that has seen him miss 10 games due to a suspension for repeated violations of the league's substance abuse policy.

A brief post on the Browns' Twitter account read: "The Browns have suspended WR Josh Gordon for a violation of team rules. WR Phil Bates has been added to the roster."

Last season Gordon posted a league-high 1,646 receiving yards and also scored nine touchdowns. In his five appearances this term, the 23-year-old has 24 catches for 303 yards.

Cleveland have been eliminated from play-off contention following a four-game losing streak and sit at 7-8 heading into the visit to Baltimore.

As a result the Browns' post-season drought now stands at 12 years, with their last appearance in the end-of-season shake-up coming in 2002.

Sunday's clash at M&T Bank Stadium will mark the last game in the NFL for Browns safety Jim Leonhard, who is retiring after a 10-year career in the league.
