Packers to open Lambeau Field for Brett Favre ceremonies

Brett Favre

Brett Favre will be inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame on July 18. About 1,600 sponsors will attend the ceremony, and fans who want to watch will be able to do so at Lambeau Field. Tickets will be $4 each, with net proceeds going to the Favre 4 Hope foundation.

Favre said he wants fans to be able to watch the ceremony and wants it done inside Lambeau Field. Favre's No. 4 will be retired at the ceremony and the team will add his name and number on the north facade of the stadium during a 2015 home game.

“This viewing opportunity from the stadium will be a unique complement to a special evening and allow more people to share their excitement with Brett,” Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy said in a statement.

Favre spent 16 of his 20 NFL seasons in Green Bay and led the Packers to consecutive Super Bowls in 1996 and 1997, winning Super Bowl XXXI. A three-time league MVP, Favre retired as the NFL's all-time leader in passing yards, touchdowns and wins. He also holds a record of 298 consecutive games started.

Favre 4 Hope has donated $7.7 million to charities in Wisconsin, Mississippi and Minnesota.
