Boise State QB arrested on two misdemeanor charges

Ryan Finley

Boise State quarterback Ryan Finley was arrested in Boise late Friday night on two misdemeanor charges.

Finley, considered by many the front-runner for the Broncos starting quarterback position this fall, was arrested on charges of minor consumption or in possession of an alcoholic beverage and resisting or obstructing officers.

A Boise State spokesperson told the Idaho Statesman that the university had been alerted to the arrest and would follow standard student conduct guidelines in dealing with the case.

As a redshirt freshman in 2014, the 6-4, 200-pound Finley backed up senior quarterback Grant Hedrick for the 12-2 Broncos, who ended the season with a victory against Arizona in the Vizio Fiesta Bowl. In limited action, Finley completed 12-of-27 passes for 161 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

Although he is one of four young quarterbacks vying to replace Hedrick, Finley has been viewed as the favorite given he is the only quarterback on the roster with game experience. He also began the team’s recent spring game quarterbacking the No. 1 offense.
