The Flames may have lost six straight, but that didn’t stop the front office from signing head coach Bob Hartley to a multi-year extension Wednesday.

Hartley has a 71-79-13 record since taking over the Flames in May 2012 and currently has the team sitting in fifth place in the Pacific Division and ninth place in the Western Conference with a 17-14-2 mark.

Before being hired by Calgary, Hartley spent five seasons with the Avalanche and four with the Thrashers.

Details of the extension have not been released. Harley’s current deal was set to end at the conclusion of the season.

The Flames will look to snap their six-game slide Friday against the Stars.
