The New York Giants wide receiver, who is just seven games into his NFL career, showed incredible athleticism to pluck an Eli Manning pass with one hand at full stretch as he backpeddled into the end zone in the first half of Sunday's 31-28 defeat to the Cowboys.

Beckham's take has sparked some debate over whether it is the best catch in NFL history, triggered by the likes of Giants team-mate Victor Cruz posting on Twitter: "That's the best catch I've ever seen."

However, the 22-year-old first-round draft pick is attempting to stay grounded, despite the hysteria around the play.

"I hope it's not the greatest catch of all time," he said. "I hope I can make more.

"It really means nothing without a win - you still go home at the end of the day with a loss and that's just not a good feeling."

Beckham has wasted little time in making a name for himself since making the step up to the NFL.

But with the Giants 3-8 following the defeat to the Cowboys, Beckham has mixed feelings about his progress.

"It's hard because at the end of the day all you want to do is win," he added.

"Everybody wants to be a Super Bowl champion, go to the play-offs and play as many games as possible, so losing never fun."

Giants coach Tom Coughlin knows he has a special talent at his disposal in Beckham.

Coughlin said: "He's got a gift, there's no doubt.

"I've seen him make a lot of one-handed catches to be honest with you, but none have fallen down like that. To stay in bounds like that after being fouled is quite a thing as well."
