Broncos defensive end Antonio Smith is under investigation for child abuse, according to TMZ. The Associated Press has reported the allegations are "sexual in nature."

The investigation is taking place in Texas and the allegations stem from "multiple incidents dating back to 2010." Fort Bend County District Attorney John Healey told TMZ that no charges have been filed, but confirmed there is a case against Smith.

"We're trying to discern the truth from the untruthfulness of the claim to decide what charges, if any, will be filed," he said.

The case, first filed in Colorado in November, was forwarded to Texas where the alleged incidents occurred.

Smith, 33, began his career with Arizona in 2004. He's played for the Texans, Raiders and the Broncos, his current team. He made the Pro Bowl with Houston in 2011.
