Report: Andre Johnson asks Texans for his release

Andre Johnson has been a Texan since he was drafted No. 3 overall by the team in 2003, but the 34-year-old's time in Houston is quickly coming to an end.

According to ProFootballTalk, Johnson's agent Kennard McGuire says he has asked the Texans to cut Johnson and that he will not try to seek a trade.

The wide receiver is scheduled to make $10.5 million this season and $11 million in 2016, but will likely be granted his wish to be released.

Johnson led the Texans last season with 85 catches, 936 yards and three touchdown receptions. For his career, he has 1,012 receptions (ninth all-time) for 13,597 yards (12th all-time) and 64 touchdowns.

The Seahawks, Packers, Eagles, Patriots and Colts are potential landing spots for the seven-time Pro Bowler.
