The only MLB team to have five of its players in a single All-Star game starting lineup was Cincinnati's 1976 "Big Red Machine."

The 2015 Royals are on track to match that feat for this year's Midsummer Classic — to be played in Cincinnati, of all places.

MLB on Tuesday released the first round of American League vote totals for the All-Star Game, and Kansas City's dominance on the field has carried over to the balloting. Catcher Salvador Perez leads all players with 1,447,753 votes, and teammates Mike Moustakas, Alcides Escobar, Lorenzo Cain and Alex Gordon also are in line to start in the Queen City.

The Angels' Mike Trout would be the lone non-Royals starter in the outfield, with Detroit's Miguel Cabrera (first base) and Houston's Jose Altuve (second base) rounding out the position players. Nelson Cruz of the Mariners leads all designated hitters.

Remarkably enough, the Royals' Eric Hosmer, Omar Infante and Kendrys Morales are second to Cabrera, Altuve and Cruz, and Alex Rios is in sixth among AL outfielders.

Better yet for the defending AL champions, who currently own the best record in the league, Ned Yost will manage the AL team against Bruce Bochy and the NL.

MLB has eliminated the traditional in-stadium balloting, so all votes are being cast online.
