Despite widespread speculation that Lane Kiffin would bolt to the NFL in 2015, it is now clear that he's staying put at the college ranks for now.

Alabama released a statement Saturday confirming that Kiffin would indeed remain in his current role as offensive coordinator for the 2015 season.

"I made a comment at the Sugar Bowl that I would be back this fall at Alabama and that is definitely the plan," Kiffin said. "This time of year, there are lots of things out there regarding other coaching opportunities, but I want to reaffirm my commitment to the University of Alabama, Coach Saban and our team."

Kiffin's name recently has been connected to several NFL coaching vacancies, most notably as the reported front-runner for the 49ers offensive coordinator job under new head coach Jim Tomsula.

Earlier this week, Saban expressed uncertainty over whether Kiffin would return to Alabama. Any of those concerns can now be put to rest.
