Vikings coach Mike Zimmer reiterated his stance on Adrian Peterson missing his second day of organized team activities on Wednesday, and the disgruntled running back responded.

Peterson released the following statement to ESPN's Josina Anderson, which the Vikings posted to their website:

"The reason I'm not attending OTAs has nothing to do with wanting to be traded," Peterson said. "It's about securing my future with the Vikings. It's business, not personal and I understand that firsthand. Go Vikings."

According to the (St. Paul, Minn,) Pioneer Press, Peterson has three years and $44.25 million remaining on his contract, but none of that money is guaranteed. He's scheduled to make $12.75 million this year.

Wednesday morning, Zimmer said Peterson has two choices moving forward.

"He can either play for us or he cannot play," the second-year head coach said. "He’s not going to play for anybody else. That’s just the way it’s going to be."

There's been plenty of drama surrounding Peterson's status with the Vikings. In February, he opened up about his situation to ESPN, saying he was "still uneasy" about returning to Minnesota.

Zimmer and general manager Rick Spielman met with Peterson at his home in March to discuss his future with the organization.
