Patriots owner Robert Kraft and director of security Mark Briggs were called as witnesses Tuesday during Aaron Hernandez's murder trial.

Kraft and Briggs both testified Hernandez told them he was innocent in having a role in Odin Lloyd's death. Briggs, who was tasked with asking Hernandez to leave Gillette Stadium back in June 2013, said he had a personal one-on-one meeting with the former tight end.

“I asked him if he was involved in the incident,” Briggs said, adding Hernandez told him he wasn't involved. “He said he was telling the truth. He swore on his baby’s life that he was telling the truth.”

While Hernandez was in a weight room working out, Kraft spotted him and pulled him aside into an office. During that time the Patriots owner wanted to talk about the situation.

"I understood there was an incident that had transpired, and I wanted to know whether he was involved, and if he was — any player that comes into our system, I consider part of our extended family, and I wanted to get him help,'' Kraft said, via ESPN.

"What did he say?" prosecutor William McCauley asked.

"He said he was not involved," Kraft replied. "That he was innocent and that he hoped that the time of the murder incident came out because he said he was in a club."

Briggs, whose testimony followed Kraft's, said he removed Hernandez from Gillette Stadium because it was "bad for business." At the time, news trucks and helicopters were following the tight end's every move. He also stated the league's personal conduct policy.

“As part of the current conduct policies, there’s a reporting policy,” Briggs said, via CBS Boston. “If an individual who’s part of the NFL — player, coach, staff member — who is involved in a potential criminal situation, then they are to report that incident to the club and to the league at the earliest opportunity.”

Patriots coach Bill Belichick is on the potential witness list, but he did not testify. ESPN reports that the prosecution is expected to rest Thursday.
