Who is leading the Brownlow Medal after Round 21?

Sportingbet, which is running a weekly rolling leaderboard in conjunction with Sportal on how Brownlow Medal voting might be tracking, believes injured Gold Coast captain Ablett is level on votes with ineligible Fremantle midfielder Nathan Fyfe and two votes ahead of former team-mate Selwood.

As a result, after Round 21, Ablett’s odds of winning his third Brownlow Medal have firmed from $6 to $3, a trend influenced by former favourite Josh Kennedy sustaining a hamstring injury in Sydney’s big win over St Kilda on Saturday.

And, Kennedy’s injury has also helped Joel Selwood’s cause.

“Our analysts have Selwood trailing Ablett by just two votes with two games to go,” Sportingbet’s Andrew Brown said.

“(Matt) Priddis is a further one to two votes behind Selwood according to our estimates, but that hasn’t stopped punters backing him heavily over the last few weeks.”
