Daniel Chick, a 252-game veteran for both Hawthorn and the Eagles has revealed to the Herald Sun, the details of that flag-clinching team’s dark truth.

The revelation comes just three days before the Eagles look to end the Hawks’ run of consecutive premierships, with Chick claiming that he, along with premiership teammates Daniel Kerr and Ben Cousins took enormous and dangerous doses of asthma medication.

Along with this, Chick admitted that the use of methamphetamine, cocaine, ecstasy, xanax and valium mixed with alcohol were rife throughout the 2006 premiership-winning squad.

Chick revealed that he would take the asthma medication Prednisone, along with other stimulants in ever-increasing doses on game day.

“I couldn’t even sit still on the bench,” Chick said.

“I started taking the 20mgs and 5mgs tablets on game day but then it escalated up to 40 to 50mgs quickly.

“You feel bulletproof basically… It smashes your system… but by Wednesday you flatten out and it is hard to get going again. Once you are in that cycle it was like an addiction.”
